Education has always been one of the things we care about the most at MAAF, because we see how much it can change a person’s entire life. In many of the communities we visit, children are eager to learn but the schools around them don’t have enough facilities, or sometimes the environment just isn’t good enough for proper learning. So we try, in our own small way, to step in and provide what we can — classrooms, learning materials, and other support that helps students feel encouraged to keep going.
A lot of the time, what these young people need isn’t only a building or a desk. Sometimes they need someone who believes in them. That’s part of why we put effort into our scholarship programs. We want children and young adults to have a chance to continue their education, even when their families can’t afford it or when life has thrown too many obstacles in their path. The idea is not only to pay school fees, but to give them a sense that their dreams actually matter.
We know we can’t solve every problem in the education sector, and honestly, there are days it feels overwhelming. But each time we see a student smile because they can finally attend class comfortably or continue their schooling, it reminds us why we keep doing this work. Education opens doors, and if we can help open even a few of those doors, then that’s a legacy worth leaving behind.
